United Nations Statistics Commission to Review Thirty-six Key Changes to the Sustainable Development Goals Agreed Upon by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group
2-6 March 2020 - The United Nations Statistics Commission will hold its 51st session at the United Nations headquarter in New York City. Major amendments to the Sustainable Development Goals as proposed by the Inter-agency and Expert Group (IAEG) will be presented and reviewed during the four day session. "As an example, Indicator 4.7.1 on mainstreaming sustainability education, was moved from Tier III to Tier II, which will allow its custodian agency, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to begin collecting the data needed from countries in 2020, and results can be submitted for publication in 2021. UNESCO says this will “kick off the systematic, periodic, comprehensive, and official data collection on [sustainability and citizenship education] for the first time in the world." Read more here.

14 October 2019 - The GDOi team is heading to Shenzhen to participate in UNLEASH! The program "gathers top talent from all over the world and invites them for a week of innovation in Shenzhen in China, from November 6-13, 2019. UNLEASH is a global initiative aiming to create the world's largest innovation lab for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".

26 September 2019 - A vital partnership has come together to tackle one of the worlds most pressing problems: access to quality data. "Public data used to track progress on the SDGs often predates 2015, according to U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed. Aside from being old, available data is also often inaccurate. About 1.1 billion people in the world cannot prove their identifies and are not counted in government statistics, Mohammed said during the launch of Data For Now at the Ford Foundation." Learn more.

23 September 2019 - GDOi's founders completed YC Startup School in September. YC Startup school is an initiative of the well-known accelerator program Y Combinator. It provides support, guidance, and resources to entrepreneurs worldwide.
